Safety Measures: Prevention is better than cure

Safety Measures: Prevention is better than cure

While a DIY carpentry work might not seem to be the riskiest job in the world, handling heavy machinery is something one should always be careful about. It could be the hammer, or a nail, or even a splinter. So make sure to ensure your safety and those around you too.

What's that? You don't even know what tools you need as a starter?

Well we've got you covered in that area too!

Yeah I know. It sounds too good to be true. But it is true.

Now, let's talk about safety measures.

Safety Measure 1

Find a well spaced and ventilated place to start your work. No your living room is not the place you want to be doing carpentry. Even if it's 'big enough'. Find or make a place that is not adjacent to your house. Maybe a backyard, or a workshop. There would be tons of micro particles flying around during the work, and you definitely don't want them in your lungs. Which takes us to the second safety measure.

Safety Measure 2

Safety Measure 2

Please wear a mask before you start working (what is this, 2020?). It protects you from the macro dust particles, especially the ones that comes off of the wood. You may not be able to see it, but those particles settle on your lungs and that may lead to some repiratory issues. Do not take the safety measures lightly. They are there for a reason. Apart from a mask, you may also use goggles to protect your eyes. But that depends on the type of woodwork you will be performing. On top of that, having a glove is recommended too. While cutting/trimming down wood, there tends to be sharp edges that can easily penetrate through your epidermis. While this may not be life threatning, why risk it at all.

Conclusion

Now I have become carpenter, crafter of shelves

Embarking on a carpentry journey as a beginner opens up a world of creative possibilities. These DIY carpentry projects act like a ladder towards a future where you become an expert in carpentry and can build anything you want. That is, ofc course, if you decide to climb that ladder to the top. Remember to enjoy the process, embrace the imperfections, and let your creativity shine through your handmade creations. And don't forget, everyone starts somewhere, so even if your creation is not perfect, don't be too harsh on yourself. Give yourself some time and you'll start to see improvements in no time.

Happy Woodworking!
