- TL;DR (The Right Paint for Your Home)
In India, you will find many households using Asian Paint buckets as water buckets in the bathroom and also as storage containers elsewhere. This is how popular Asian Paints is. It holds the largest market share for paints in India while also being part of the top 10 paint companies in the world. With this high of a standing, there’s no surprise in it having a massive catalog of paint products.
First-time customers and homeowners new to the world of paints will be left confused about what paint to pick when faced with a huge variety of paint products. So here’s an in-depth article explaining the paint products in Asian Paints’ interior paint range.
The Asian Paints Interior paints range is divided into three broad categories based on pricing and other important properties-
Tractor Paints
There are 7 tractor paint products in Asian paints, each with varying features and properties. The Tractor Paints range of products is the most affordable in the Asian Paints product catalog. This makes them ideal for your low-budget painting needs, they are especially suited for rented homes, sheds, and temporary shelters.
Tractor Emulsion
A direct upgrade to distemper paints, Tractor emulsion gives 1.5x the coverage of a distemper paint while also lasting longer than them. It is slightly washable and gives a smooth Matt finish to your walls, all the time while staying mighty affordable. This is not a completely plastic paint, it is a mixture of distemper(40%) and plastic(60%) paint. Here slightly washable means, you can wash it once to remove stains, any more, and you will be removing the stains along with the paint.

Tractor Emulsion Advanced
Tractor Emulsion Advance gives you all the features of Tractor Emulsion in addition to an Anti-fungal shield. Asian paint claims that this paint offers protection from fungal growth thus reducing the chance of black spots caused by fungi on your walls. It also has slightly lower coverage for a single coat when compared to tractor emulsion. The shades offered are slightly lower too.
Features | USP: Affordable finish with Anti-fungal shield |

Tractor Emulsion Shyne
This is tractor emulsion with a shine. The selling point of Tractor Emulsion Shyne is its affordable shine, it offers a smooth and shiny finish at a decent price. If you don’t want to spend much but want to give a shiny finish to your wall, then this is your best bet. This is the only paint that gives your walls a shiny finish in the Asian paints economy range. The shades offered are lower compared to the previous two products but 1200 is by no means a small number.

Tractor Sparc
If you want something cheaper than Tractor emulsion then this is the paint for you. But beware, this is closer to a distemper than an emulsion paint. For a price lower than Tractor Emulsion’s you get Tractor Sparc, but this has a slightly lower durability and lower shade choice. The paint coverage is lower too. Washability is very low in this paint, meaning you only get one chance to remove the stains, that is immediately after the wall is stained. Using water or a wet cloth on the wall to remove the stain later will only damage the paint.

Disclaimer
All the numbers used in the feature tables except for the price are the official data provided by Asian Paints on their website. The listed prices are just estimates and may hugely vary depending on your place of residence and the dealers. The coverage of the paint will vary depending on the surface and painting techniques. The life span of the paint is hugely dependent on the painting techniques and physical conditions.
Some Painting Terms Explained:
Coverage:
The amount of area you can paint for a certain quantity of paint (usually for 1 liter).
Life Span:
The amount of time the paint is expected to stay intact on your walls at optimal conditions.
Finish:
The texture, shine, and feel of the paint on the walls once it is dry.
Sheen Level:
The level of shine the paint has.
Take “5 - 15 at 60 deg GH” as an example.
- Here “5 - 15” is the level of shine, lower the numbers, lower the shine, so for a matt finish, the numbers will be very low (<5).
- “60 deg GH” is the angle at which the glossiness or shine was measured.
Washability:
This tells you how washable the paint is, aka how many times you can use something like a wet cloth to clean stains or dirt off the wall.
TL;DR (The Right Paint for Your Home)
With so many paint choices explained you should have some idea of what paint to paint your walls with. If not, don’t worry, Here’s a quick rundown-
Places where the paint doesn’t matter
For Sheds, Godowns, Attics, or some other places where the paint doesn’t matter you can use the Distemper paints like Tractor Sparc series, Tractor Uno, or Tractor Aqualock, based on your needs and preferences.
Rental Spaces and Low-budget Scenarios
If you don’t want to spend much but still want a decent paint job then the Tractor Emulsion series should be your choice.
Where Health is a Priority
If you have disease-prone people, like the elderly or kids who have health issues then Royale Health Shield and Royale Atmos are a good choice.
For Areas with High Moisture levels
If you have walls that often get damp and/or are prone to fungi then these are the paints you can choose based on your budget levels- Tractor Aqualock, Tractor Emulsion Advanced, and any of the Apcolite and Royale series.
For Fire-prone Areas
If you need your walls to have fire-retardant properties then these two paints are worth considering, Apcolite All Protek, and Royale Aspira.
Other than these, you have a huge catalog of paint products to select from based on what your preferences are. If you want a Matt finish paint then you have a Matt finish in each of the three categories and so on.
If choosing paint is one big task, then choosing painters is the next, because whatever paint you may choose, if it is not applied properly, then the paint won’t live to its full potential. That is why hiring professional painters is a must for your painting jobs.
