You regularly vacuum your carpets and maybe your floors too, but there is always dust lurking in the corner of the room the very next day, and neither are your carpets looking all that spiffy. Could you be vacuuming wrong?
You regularly vacuum your carpets and maybe your floors too, but there is always dust lurking in the corner of the room the very next day, neither are your carpets looking all that spiffy? Could you be vacuuming wrong? Like most Indian homes your home too is probably swept and mopped every single day! If you have carpets, area rugs or wall to wall carpeting, there will still be carpet fibers and dust from external sources, and therefore, every single day you wonder at the dirt that shows up in the dust pan after sweeping.
Here is how to vacuum right and suck out all the accumulated dirt and loose fibers from your carpet and other areas like window rails and crevices for an all round cleaner home.
Begin with using the vacuum crevice attachment (the one that looks like a narrowed, flattened tube of plastic) and vacuum around the periphery of the room, aiming for hard to reach corners, behind table legs, under the couch before you begin to vacuum the carpet.
Vacuum following a mental grid, cover the room horizontally first, overlapping the area covered by the vacuum at the edges.
Repeat the process vertically across the room. Repeating the process twice lifts the carpet to loosen embedded dirt and suck it out. Especially important and helpful if you have little kids at home or pets.
That mental grid you are following, begin at its furthest corner from the room door and vacuum along the grid and out of the room.
Vacuum cleaners throw out filtered air that is sucked in when vacuuming, keeping the dirt and dust in the vacuum and expelling air. A great way to deodorize your carpet and the room as you vacuum is to use a few drops of your favorite essential oil on a cotton ball and place it in the vacuum dirt receptacle. The hot air that blows out while you vacuum will carry a hint of the essential oil and spread the fragrance across the room.
