The decor of a home also includes its flooring and wooden flooring is slowly gaining traction in urban Indian homes because of its elegance and style quotient. Don’t  know which one is a perfect fit for your home? Here are the different types of wooden flooring decoded to make it easier for you to choose from the ones available on the market.

Laminate Wooden Flooring

Laminate flooring is the most inexpensive type of wooden flooring, and has a vinyl layer over a pressed board that looks like wood, but is actually made of vinyl. Laminate flooring adds aesthetic value to your room and there are many textures and styles to choose from. It can be a very reasonable solution to give your home an instant face lift. Laminate flooring can be installed anywhere in your home and is a perfect choice for rooms that get a lot of foot fall, like entryways and family rooms and can be a great success in the kitchen as you’ll love how easily it cleans up!

Laminate surfaces are becoming so popular because they are easy to maintain and the strong exterior resists discoloring and moisture while providing years of matchless defense against abrasion and scratches.

Engineered Wooden Flooring

This variation of the wooden flooring is made of MDF (Medium density fiber board, also known as pressed wood) that has a 1/4th inch layer of wood veneer pasted on the top.  The top layer of the flooring is an authentic hardwood, but it does not go all the way through. Engineered flooring looks artistic and is available in a pre-finished form, so you can save a lot of time and money on the sanding and installation time and labor costs required for hardwood flooring. Engineered flooring is less expensive than hardwood flooring but costlier than laminate flooring.

The biggest advantage of using engineered flooring is that it is easy to maintain. In case a part of the floor is damaged, you can it easily because it is pre-finished, the new pieces will match the previously laid wooden flooring easily. Engineered flooring is long lasting as it does not expand or contract due to humidity or changes in temperature conditions this makes it ideal for changing Indian weather conditions.

Hardwood Flooring

Hardwood flooring is definitely an expensive choice, at the upper end of the wooden flooring options available on the market. The price of hardwood flooring may vary significantly depending on the wood you choose.  Although it is more expensive, you add timeless value  to the decor of your home with natural wood flooring. In case of nicks and scratches, all it takes is a quick job of sanding and refinishing that your local carpenter can easily do.

Hardwood floors are a favored option for the finish and aesthetic appeal they add to any room. You can use hardwood flooring in the master bedroom or even the living room to exude an old world charm.
